Our client is the global news monitoring division of the BBC, one of the world’s most prestigious news and broadcasting organisations, providing news, comment and analysis compiled from the world’s press, TV, radio, Internet and social media.

The division has developed a new commercial strategy building on its core expertise to offer new products and services and to target new markets. The division identified four key verticals for targeted revenue growth and is looking to hire a Senior Sales Manager (SSM) for the International organisations and governments sector.

The SSM will be expected to develop and grow his/her sector through a combination of:

  • focused, consistent and client-centric management of existing business and key accounts
  • Creating and implementing a business development strategy for their sector
  • Identifying, creating and successfully realising new business opportunities
  • Identifying new product and service opportunities
  • Managing the sales, account management and business development process end-to-end and working with key stakeholders across marketing, editorial and product development to maximise the impact and reach of the products

You will be an experienced, consultative sales manager with significant expertise selling online information services to international bodies, governments, development organisations and similar clients. You will be skilled in building, maintaining and developing client relationships based on a high service ethos, high quality products and a proactive, client-led sales model with a consensus approach to business development. You will ideally have worked with one or more leading brands in your sector and you will have a strong respect for both the business and cultural impact of a globally recognised brand.

You will be an excellent relationship-builder with a proven track record in building partnerships with clients, developing bespoke solutions based on genuine client needs and feeding client and market intelligence into the product development process.

You will have a keen interest in international affairs and a sound knowledge of news and information sources in your sector and foreign news and media services in general. You will also have a clear sense of the value of international news and analysis in influencing the decision-making processes of institutions and companies.

This is an international role and you will need to be prepared to travel.
